In early June, Yolo County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a burglary at a horse boarding facility in the 24000 block of County Road 95 in Yolo County. Numerous items associated with both western and English horseback riding—including saddles, tack, and riding equipment—had been stolen. The estimated loss was approximately $25,000.
Working closely with patrol deputies, Yolo County Sheriff's detectives conducted an undercover investigation that led to the identification of 34-year-old Bobby Lawrence and 42-year-old Carina Sullivan, both of Winters, as suspects in the case.
On June 9, Yolo County Sheriff's detectives, with assistance from the West Sacramento Police Department and Woodland Police Department, served a Yolo County search warrant at a residence in the 25000 block of Buckeye Road in Winters. Detectives recovered approximately 90 percent of the stolen horse tack and riding equipment.
During the search, investigators also located additional stolen property connected to burglaries in neighboring residences, including:
• A riding lawn mower
• A welding machine and pressure washer
• Power tools
• Hunting gear
• Fishing equipment
The total value of the recovered property exceeded $35,000.
Lawrence and Sullivan were arrested and booked into the Yolo County Jail on theft and criminal conspiracy-related charges. While the suspects were being booked, detectives began the process of returning the recovered property to its rightful owners.
The Yolo County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the West Sacramento Police Department and Woodland Police Department for their assistance with this investigation.
