The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office maintains a year-round Marine Patrol Team, as authorized under the California Harbors and Navigation Code. The primary mission of the Marine Patrol Team is to support safe and responsible recreation on local waterways by providing assistance, education, and enforcement.
The team’s responsibilities include:
- Educating the public on safe boating practices
- Conducting safety inspections
- Performing search and rescue operations
- Enforcing applicable boating laws and regulations
The Marine Patrol Team actively patrols the Sacramento River, the Delta, and surrounding sloughs using aluminum-hulled jet boats and personal watercraft. Additionally, the team patrols Cache Creek and Putah Creek utilizing inflatable rafts, allowing access to more challenging and shallow waterways.
This program is funded in part by a grant from California State Parks, Division of Boating and Waterways. The Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to DBW for its continued support in promoting public safety on Yolo County waterways.
