Rural Crime Prevention

Rural landscapes can face unique security challenges. Remote, uncontrolled access points, unsecured equipment, exposed infrastructure, and valuable commodities can make farms and ranches especially vulnerable to theft. Stolen agricultural equipment is also difficult to trace, making recovery challenging.

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office is committed to partnering with our rural and agricultural communities to protect their homes, businesses, property and livelihoods. Our prevention program seeks to strengthen communication, raise awareness, and promote proactive safety practices.

Rural Crime Task Force

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Task Force specializes in investigating crimes that impact farms, ranches, and other rural properties. The team works closely with landowners and agricultural partners to prevent theft and enhance security through education, enforcement, and collaboration.

The program is led by a Sheriff’s Sergeant and actively participates in regional and national agricultural crime prevention organizations, including:

Yolo County Farm Bureau

California Farm Bureau

California Rural Crime Prevention Task Force
