Awards & Honors
The Sheriff’s Office places great importance on recognizing individuals who have gone above and beyond in service to the agency or the community. Each year, we formally honor Sheriff’s personnel who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, courage, or service that reflects positively on the Office of the Sheriff and the people we serve. When an individual’s actions meet or exceed the established criteria for recognition, the Sheriff’s Awards Committee may consider them for one of several official awards or commendations outlined in our program.
2025 Certificate of Commendations
The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office proudly names Deputy Corey Ploesh as our “2025 Deputy of the Year.” Deputy Ploesch began his career with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office in June of 2014.
He has exemplified the highest standards of leadership, professionalism, and commitment during his tenure as acting sergeant on B Team for a six-month period within the last year. In this role, he consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, guiding B Team patrol with fairness, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to excellence. When unexpected staffing gaps left teams vulnerable, Deputy Ploesch stepped forward and assumed the responsibilities of a full-time Officer in Charge, often with very little notice. He inspired confidence and maintained team cohesion, ensuring that morale remained strong and operational effectiveness was never compromised. His steady presence, sound judgment, and problem-solving approach allowed the team to navigate difficult circumstances with success, reflecting his deep commitment not only to his work but also to the well-being and success of his colleagues. Corey has emerged as one of the most influential mentors within the Patrol Division, as younger deputies frequently seek his guidance. He encourages proactive policing and maintains a steady and calm demeanor – even under pressure.
Beyond his leadership on patrol, Deputy Ploesch expanded his contributions to the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office by becoming a certified Taser instructor and joining the Off Highway Vehicle team. These additional responsibilities highlight his initiative, versatility, and willingness to take on new challenges in service of the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office and the community. Deputy Ploesch’s unwavering commitment, strong work ethic, and exceptional leadership make him a truly deserving candidate for the “2025 Deputy of the Year.” His contributions have had a lasting and positive impact on his team and the department, embodying the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office motto of “Honored to Serve.”
