The Investigations Section is comprised of Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators and works under the authority of the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office Field Operations/Patrol Division.
Detectives investigate felony crimes including homicides, rapes, child/elder abuse, burglaries, assaults, arsons, and identity thefts. In addition, the department has assigned detectives to the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, the Yolo County Gang Task Force, Cannabis Enforcement, and Agriculture Crime Enforcement to work with law enforcement from other jurisdictions in order to reduce crime in our area.
Crime Scene Investigators conduct crime scene investigations through the use of photography, evidence collection, and fingerprint/DNA processing, along with managing the evidence and property system.
