Sheriff’s Jurisdiction for Issue of CCW Licenses
The Sheriff may issue a license to any person residing within Yolo County. However, persons residing in a municipality are strongly encouraged to first contact their local Police Chief and apply for a license with that agency.

Overview of requirements to obtain a new or renew a CCW Permit in YOLO County:
New CCW Permits:
- Valid California driver’s license or state-issued ID, which has your current address in Yolo County.
- Provide “Proof of residency” Two (2) Consecutive statements showing your current address in Yolo County (i.e. Utility bill Lease/Rental Agreement, Telephone Bill, Cable/Satellite, Home Internet (TAX Statements, Mortgage Account Statements will NOT be accepted).
- Firearms listed on your Concealed Carry Weapon license MUST be registered to you.
- Three (3) signed letters of character reference.
- 16 hours of Firearms Training

Renewals (every 2 years):
- Valid California driver’s license or state-issued ID, which has your current address in Yolo County.
- Firearms listed on your Concealed Carry Weapon license must be registered to you.
- 8-hour firearms training course.
- White DOJ Laminated Permit (BOF 4501) & Yellow Department Issued CCW Card MUST be turned in at the time of issuance.
