The Yolo County Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) and Yolo County Children’s Alliance (YCCA) are excited to share Nurturing Children During Times of Stress: A Guide to Help Children Bloom. This resource for parents and caregivers, which they are launching during Child Abuse Prevention Month, contains tips and resources that parents and caregivers can use to promote resilience in their children and themselves. The guide explains the effects of intense stress or Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Adverse Community Environments, focusing on prevention and emphasizing that healing is possible at any age.

The guide is available in English, Spanish, and Russian at https://www.yolokids.org/article/nurturing-children-during-times-stress. This guide was produced by YCCA as a project of the Yolo County CAPC.

Rocky Fire Update- Expect increased activity today in Cache Creek Canyon in CAL Fire’s attempt to contain the Rocky Fire at County Road 40.  Additional fire equipment, air support, and smoke in the valley is anticipated.  For up todate information visit the CAL Fire Website

Sheriff’s Office Deputies will be assisting with the evacuation of Cache Canyon Regional Parks due to the Rocky Fire. Campers are being notified tonight to evacuate by tomorrow at noon. Highway 16 is closed to west bound traffic west of County Road 41. We ask all to stay out of the area as it may it interfere with the fighting and evacuation efforts. For the most current information on the Monticello Fire in Yolo County click here for the Cal Fire Website. As of July 6th, 2014 @ 8:00pm approximately 7,000 acres have been burned and the fire is 30% contained. Evacuations will be lifted for all residences on Highway 128 from County Road 87 to Positas Road at 8:00 p.m. Campgrounds along Highway 128 remain under the evacuation order. Highway 128 remains closed from Highway 121 to County Road 87, this includes Pleasants Valley Road. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with Cal-Fire, PG&E and Red Cross in our efforts to get residents back into their homes as quickly and safely as possible.June 13, 2014
